drink more water! with plant nanny

i had a productive day of spring cleaning and reorganizing, and now as i sit eating my vegan chia seed pudding [would anyone like the recipe?] and drinking my last glass of water for the day, i thought i would share something that i have been loving recently.

as everyone knows, we should drink basically a ton water every day, definitely more than we typically do and sometimes more than feels humanly possible. it's especially harder during the colder months, but luckily summer is on her way! along with the 'go green challenge' i wanted to drink a lot more water and always have water with me no matter what.

so, my dear friend ariana shared this app she has been using to hold herself accountable for drinking her daily water and keeping track of her intake: Plant Nanny. this app is somewhat like an adult Tomagatchi, remember those? and it's fun! you enter in your weight and activity level, and then it shows you how many ounces of water you need to consume daily.

after that, you get to choose a plant you'd like to name and take care of! you customize different cups and glasses depending on what you are drinking and every time you drink, you water your plant too by holding down the cup and filling it up! the app will send you notifications when your plant is thirsty and when you should drink more water too. so helpful!

look how cute he is!

it's brilliant! i find myself actually forcing my water down just so i can water my plant. if you are dehydrated, your plant let's you know and looks very sick, which makes me feel terrible! [it's only happened once, i promise!] once you complete your daily goal, you move up levels and see your plant grow!

bonus: you can take snapshots of your plants and show your friends your progress too, like a real mom ;)

i know this free app is available in the Apple app store for iPhone, but my mom looked for it on her Anroid and couldn't find it... but there might be others out there! give it a try and see if drinking more water every day becomes easier... it has for me!

  1. It’s great that you were able to find ways to drink the proper amount of water you need every day. There are a lot of healthy benefits one can obtain from drinking water. So, it will be really helpful if there was something that will remind you that you have not been drinking enough. Not to mention that Plant Nanny is really cute! Haha!
