in college i studied art.  for two years i did a "flower study" where all of my art was devoted
to painting / drawing / sculpting flowers. i know this doesn't surprise any of you at all because
i clearly have an obsession with flowers.

i never noticed flowers as much as i do now until my sophomore year of college.
where in my painting class i found myself drawn to the soft pallets of pinks, whites, and yellows.
this was when i was an avid "flicker"-er and where i discovered my favorite photographer *Cinnamon
actually when i first started following her work thats when i first saw peonies or ranunculus.
(i know, i know).
i was completely and utterly inspired by her work.
i found myself constantly going through each page of her account, and i finding myself with my
pencil & sketch book filling it with tulips, ranunculus, peonies… all things flowers.

its been a year since my fingers have met the paint brush.
the past week or so i have found myself filling my new sketch book with drawings of peonies.
using the bouquet i bought yesterday as my subjects.
today i found myself completely lost in my latest audio book " delirium" and in a total trance.

i was doing some research on the meaning of this glorious flower.
& i wanted to share with you all what i found:

{peony: symbolism & meaning}  :

"one legend has it that the peony is named after
paeon, a physician to the gods, who received the
flower on mount olympus from the mother of apollo.

& another tells the story of the same physician who was
"saved" from the fate of dying as other morals by being turned into
the flower we know today as peony.

the tradition floral symbol of china, the state flower of indiana, and the
12th wedding anniversary flower, peonies are known as the flower of
riches & honor. with their lush, full rounded bloom, peonies embody
romance and prosperity and are regarded as an omen of good fortune
and a happy marriage."

  5. The lotus flower begins its growth at the bottom of the pond as a small bud attached to a vine. Gradually, the vine climbs toward the surface of the water though strangely the bud of the lotus flower faces downward whilst the vine grows toward the sunlight. Lotus flower meaning
