I had the opportunity a month ago and sit down & get to know Meredith. She is so genuine. We met while she was in town visiting Kelsie ( @withlavenderandlace ). When meeting her I felt like I had been friends with her forever. Talking with her was so natural. She has her first book coming out next month! You'll hear more about it in the q&a. Now get to know this lovely!

2. Tell us about your book that's coming out in October!
My book, Crochet with One Sheepish Girl, is filled with crochet projects perfect for wearing, living, and giving. I love designing projects that are a not typical in the world of crochet and add a unique twist to a classic technique. Some of my favorite projects from the book are the crochet apron with heart pockets, free printable cards with a crochet edge, and a tea cozy that looks like a dreamy country cottage!

3. What inspired you to write the book?
I was approached by Sixth and Spring publishing to write this book during the summer of 2012. From the beginning of this project, they gave me so much creative freedom. At first it was overwhelming, to have the ability to truly choose every detail seen in the book, but in the end I knew the only book I wanted to create was the one that represented me. It was so inspiring, and humbling,  to have the freedom to choose yarns in my favorite colors, create quirky projects that represented my style, and feel like I was putting together a piece of myself to show the world.

4. You are heading to England next week! Tell us about this special trip.
Yes! I am so excited! I am traveling to the cities of Bath and London, England next week. The plan is to do some sight seeing (more like drooling...) around town, eat some delicious food, and finally meet the ladies of Mollie Makes Magazine. I have been working with the magazine for years now and I am so thankful for the opportunity to meet such a talented and supportive team. While I am across the pond, Mollie Makes is giving me the control of their Instagram and Pinterest accounts from September 18-21! Pretty exciting! I can't wait to share photos from my perspective around their hometown of Bath and a few behind the scenes shots of the office. It's going to be an incredible experience!

5. What inspires you daily?
The general pleasures of life inspire me daily...beautiful colors, fashion editorials, a teacup with a floral pattern, two friends sharing their hearts, chunky yarns, my cats, Frank Sinatra records, a good cup of coffee, books stacked on my nightstand, and so much more.

6. If you could be a flower, which one would you be and why?
A poppy! It is my birth flower and I have always loved the bright colors.

make-up monday: autumn eyes tutorial

I've been so excited to wear darker lipsticks and smokier eyes lately, so today I did this look: shimmery golds and deep brown on my eyes and "fig" lips, the perfect wearable smoky look for going into fall! my inspiration came from this new NARS "And God Created the Woman" palette I got for my birthday! the colors are just gorgeous.
Processed with VSCOcam with m4 preset
here's what I used:

let's begin:
1 // applied Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse foundation with stippling brush all over face, concealed with L'Oreal Magic Lumi highighter concealer under my eyes, and set it with IT cosmetics Celebration Foundation Illumination in Light.

2 // filled in brows, see my tutorial here. then bronzed/contoured with AVEDA bronzer in Bronze Glow.

3 // applied Milani baked blush in Rose d'oro and primed my eyelids with the NARS Pro-Prime.

4 // beginning with the second lightest shimmery color in the palette [top middle] apply this to the enitre lid not bringing it up into the crease. then, using a crease brush, apply the dark brown shimmery color [bottom middle] to the outter corner, slightly drawing a trianglular shape from the middle of your lid across to the outer corner. with a clean fluffy brush, blend this triangle out really, really well being sure to not drag the color down below your eye lid.

5 // using the same dark brown color on a smaller brush, drag it under the lash line as you would eyeliner, connecting the top lid color to the bottom lash line, and blend out very well. add the lightest shimmery shade [bottom left] into your inner corners and on brow bone for highlighting

6 // add lots of mascara! I'm loving this one by Maybelline.

7 // put on your lipstick! I opted for my current favorite, "Fabulous Fig" by Revlon. this look would be gorgeous with a nude too, but I am loving this transitional red, it's not too deep or dark!

to sum up our summer, we've composed a summer-y summary of our favorites things, moments, & memories of the past few sunny months. even being coasts apart, I can see & feel the closeness of Chelsea & I enjoying many of the very same things, despite our distance from each other! xo

Kaitlin ---

I hate to say it, but summer is coming to an end. it's bittersweet, really. after my birthday hits, it's a downward spiral through the best time of the year! I can't wait for the colder months ahead full of holidays & happiness, but the magic of summer will be sincerely missed until next year. school has started & some of the leaves are already changing, plus the mornings & evenings have the brisk chill of autumn months to come, filled with knit scarves, hats, & wool coats. I really am so excited!

Chelsea ---

I feel like this summer was a total humid blur. I spent most of my summer in my car, traveling to the next wedding location. I learned how to make homemade peach pie & now have a new dream of being a homemaker. (I want to can everything). I moved out of my first apartment (my first one completely on my own) to my second one. The summer moved as brisk as the wind. I'm hoping fall will stick around a wee bit longer.

happy birthday kaitlin! (+ september calendar!)

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

today is a beautiful day because kaitlin was born 25 years ago.
if she did not make her entrance the world would literally be less brighter,
sillier, and prettier without her in it.

kaitlin is the most loyal person i have ever met. if you are hurting, she will run by your side.
if you need a girls night (or aka a three hour Skype session) she will not hesitate to be there.

she is genuine. i remember one of the first phone conversations we had and instagram was obviously brought up because that was how we met. she is not phased at all by the amount of likes she gets on a photo or the amount of followers that she has. she just doesn't care. i find that amazing. and i think people can see that she is normal girl just using an app because she likes it, not to get anything out of it.

she is so creative. she is inspired by nature and everything that God has created.
she is  doer. this is one thing that i love about her. she has no problem dreaming BUT she
wants to see her dreams come alive.

i am so thankful for her 24th year. it was full of ups and downs. but those ups and those downs what brought us together. what had us cling to each other. i can only imagine what this year holds for kaitlin. but i sure do know that it will be an amazing year, worth remembering.

i am so thankful that she is my best friend.
